About the Serbian Physical Society

The Serbian Physical Society, founded in 1981, is a non-profit organization that gathers physicists, engineering physicists and others who are actively involved in scientific research and education in the field of physics. A goal of the Serbian Physical Society is to promote scientific research and importance of physical education to broader community, to improve physics education programs and to attract new generations to work in the fascinating field of physics.

These goals Serbian Physical Society realizes through the following activities:

  • Initializes, supports and organizes scientific meetings.
  • Initializes, supports and organizes seminars for continuous education of elementary and high school teachers.
  • Works on the development and advancement of educational process and programs on elementary and high school level, and at universities.
  • Organizes physics competitions for elementary and high school students, and prepares our teams for international physics Olympiads.
  • Publishes a specialized journal for elementary and high school students.
  • Collaborates with other national scientific organizations and participates in the work of the international physics organizations.
  • Represents professional and social interests of its members and informs them about the Serbian Physical Society current activities.

The Serbian Physical Society consists of two divisions:

  1. A division for scientific research and college education. It includes about 400 university professors, researchers and graduate students working in various physical disciplines covering all major areas of physical research.
  2. A division for elementary and high school education which gathers around 6000 teachers. It consists of two subdivisions for elementary and for high school education.

At the Assembly meeting in October 2006 the following members of the Executive committee of the  Serbian Physical Society were elected:
